Garaia—meaning “era” in Basque—is an İstanbul based multidisciplinary design studio exploring the dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary living.
Working across research, storytelling, creative direction, concept development, and product design, Garaia develops bespoke objects, limited-edition collections, and meaningful experiences for brands, institutions, communities, and hospitality spaces.
We believe craftsmanship carries more than technique; it preserves stories, identities, local knowledge, and distinct ways of seeing the world. Every project begins with curiosity. We travel, document, collect narratives, study traditional techniques, and collaborate closely with artisans to translate cultural references into thoughtful contemporary expressions.
Alongside its bespoke collaborations, Garaia develops its own small-scale collections in partnership with artisans. Guided by the principles of slow design, these pieces are produced in limited quantities using natural materials and time-honoured techniques.
